Default New HD Night Train owner here with a few questions

I've owned many bikes over the years, but just now have gotten in a position to get the Harley I wanted. Anyways, is there any where to get service manuals online? Anything I need to know about these bikes as far as things to watch out for, any quarks? Any other advice?

I have almost 13000 on mine and I have done my own maintenance since the 1000 mile service.
I just tightened the head nut as it was a little loose.
At about 10000 I adjusted the clutch 1 turn out and it was 1.5 turns out so it was a little out of adjustment, some may have gone to .5 out.

Other than this some have told me my belt is too tight but I had the 1000 mile service so shouldn't they have adjusted it and do belts get tighter not looser??? Guess they didn't touch it.

Other than this I have just ridden it. Very reliable bike. My front tire was low on air this weekend, down to the 20's.

When changing the transmission fluid the bolt is between the shocks to drain it and very hard to see/get to. There is a bolt under the engine that may look like it but that only lets a very little bit of oil out of the oil lines.
The engine drain bolt is directly under the oil pan in the frame.

In 13000 miles this is all that I have learned, ride it and enjoy!

If you can't get an HD Service Manual, you should be able to order a Clymers manual on the internet.

Thanks for the info guys!

It only has 2500k miles on it, and supposedly it was serviced by HD at the 1000k mark. Anyone have a list of recommended service intervals and what to do at them on hand?

Go to the HD website. You can enter the VIN and it will give you the service information.

Im sure you can get some service info online, but its worth it to just buy the correct service manuel from the stealer.

BTW that small allen plug at the bottom of the engine should not be disturbed: it is there as a leftover from the machining process of the crankcase. If you strip that out=$$$ to fix. I recommend the HD SM for any work.
