Default Stripped riser treads

Has anyone ever repaired risers or are they now just paper weights? My 1995 FLSTN stock 1 1/2" chrome risers stripped out. I rode over some railroad tracks and my bars fell down to the tank. I was in a slow speed turn and in my mind could taste the road. Don't know how I came to a stop w/o testing my new gloves but I did. I said thank you to the man upstairs and left the bike with a friend. I checked the dealers price and each side runs $42.00. Anyone been there done that? Thanks

Maybe Heli coil or even just tap them larger.
But for safety's sake, I'd replace them.

time serts, but I think it is easier to get some risers. You will have a hard time finding them.

The short risers are available on EBAY. Those are some of the first bits to come off when people get new bars and risers.

Remember how you felt when the bars hit the tank? Spend the $84.00!

Helicoil works just fine, I stripped the rear wheel sprocket bolts 2 months ago, helicoil did the trick.

Thanks for the help everyone! (Lucky 13) I do remember how it felt to have the bars drop. The dealer said they can order the part, that's when I decided to check with the forum. I will check E-Bay and then a price on helicoils. Thanks again!
