Default hate to ask - again, but ? about 200mm swap.

posted in a different section but got no answers, so will try here.

I did the search, but couldn't find a concise answer... so I'm going to ask here 'cause I know there are a bunch of you who know.

I recently acquired a 2004 night train. along with it I received a 9 inch wide rear fender with struts, brace, tail light and wiring harness. I also got a 2nd swing arm supposedly from an 06 night train (harley part number ending in -00) which appears to be exactly the same dimensions as the one currently on my bike. AND a relatively new 200mm rear wheel and tire assembly from an '07 night train. at this point, I'm not really interested in spending $100 to buy the books to see how much more I'd need to spend to finish off a wide tire swap. Hoping I can get a fairly clear and concise answer about what else I need.

I've been told that with what I have, I need a new caliper and I'm good to go. don't know how that can be the case if the 2nd swing arm is no wider than the one I have. do I need a new skinny pulley and belt along with the new caliper or is there actually a wider swingarm that fits the bike and the tire that along with a new caliper would get me closer to my objective? or is there something else that I haven't been told about that would suggest I'm better sticking with what I've got, selling the misc pieces I've got and spending that money on other fun things? or even sharing the bounty with my wife's bone stock 883L?

any and all insight will be appreciated.

Cheers!

Not sure if this will help..but I helped out a friend do a 200 swap on a 05 FXST. He got his kit from D&M customs. It consisted of the struts, fender, new 18" wheel and tire and wheel spacers. He re-used his stock caliper, rotor, sprocket, belt and swingarm.

If the swingarms part # ended in 00' then its not off an 06'. Its the same one you got most likely. And you cant fit a 200mm in it properly. You can only go up to 180mm(which is actually a better tire size anyway) and looks practically the same. Your also going to have to cut off the stock struts on your bike, your aware of that right?

The difference in the swingarms is the caliper mount has been shaved about a 1/4 inch. They are the same width.

I believe he can run an 18" rim to clear the caliper.

I read in another thread where someone said if you ran the smaller 20mm belt, you could run a 200. I'll see if I can find it and post the link

I have an 18x5.5 200 on my 04 springer. If you use the 07' swingarm, they might have a 1" axle versus a 3/4" axle on the 04. You might have to change LR, RR spacers and get the appropriate pulley spacer. You will need a 20mm 70 tooth pulley and a 135 ribbed 20mm belt. Will also need a new seat, and relocating mounting brackets for ECU and new fender brackets. See my sig link
