getting ready to change the oil and tranny i DONT want to use synthtic

harley said to use formula + in the tranny and in the primary, i used it in the primary. another shop said to use castorl 20-50 v-twin in the motor and tranny and primary

my question is should i use the formula + in the tranny and the castorl in the motor? or both 20-50 in the motor and tranny???

I use Bel-Ray Big Twin transmission fluid. I forget the viscosity, but it's much heavier than 20W50 (and non-synthetic). The tranny is much smoother now... and this is on an '08, so it's not because of wear issues. I really think you should reconsider using synthetic in the oil tank though - it's superior in every way and zero risk to your motor.

 

If you want higher engine heat, less lubricative property, lower HP, increased wear, and more frequent fluid changes, bt all means use the dino.

 

You should be able to fine 75W-90 dino gear oil for the transmission. You can also run 20W-50 dino in the primary.
