Default 10k Service Done!

When I purchased my 06 Heritage I bought the service package that covers all scheduled maintainance up to 20k miles. I just got the 10k done and, WOW, what a difference. I knew that my clutch and brake levers felt "tighter" or harder to pull, but I think it happened so gradually that I didn't really notice how much they had changed. As soon as I pulled in the clutch lever, I could tell how bad they really were. The clutch and brake levers now feel like there's practically no resistance in the pull!

The gears are shifting nice and smooth and everything seems to be running great!

10k on an 06? You don't ride much unless this isn't your only bike.
Glad its working out for you. A little maintenance goes a long way.

Was thinking that also.... I have an 07 that I traded for last July... I am over 10k now. I need to get my service done also... thinking I might do it myself though. We will see....

How much is that service? 300?

I was just at SD HD and the service there is 500ish.

I have 3k on a 3 month old bike, 2 bikes. (mocking original poster..... )

I purchased a J&S cycle jack and service manual with the intention of doing my own work, like i do on the others. Hopefully the first service will pay for itself.

love these things.

Since you had already paid for the service, there's no reason for the rocket scientists on here to criticize you. Also, there's no reason for the "hard cores" to criticize your mileage. People have varying schedules and commitments and ride when they can. So, lighten up people!

Glad the service worked well for you, Smitty.

I wish one of the real biker's on the forum would let the rest of us know how many miles a day, week, month and year we are suppose to log on our bikes. It would also help if I knew which year and model to ride and the proper clothing.

I bought a new 2005 Dodge ram p/u that I have only put 4,200 miles on. I can imagine the grief I would get on a Dodge p/u forum.

Wow, I'm glad I took the time to share a good experience with all of you hard core bikers & mechanics.

Just an FYI - I ride almost every day, but my commute to work is less than 5 miles each way - that takes a long time to add up. If I didn't have to work every day or have family commitments, maybe I could rack up the miles to be more like you guys.

And yes, I could do the work myself, but obviously, if I don't have much time to ride, I don't have the time to do the 10k service either - that's why I negotiated the service plan with the purchase of my bike.
