Default Question: lowering rear of Deuce affect handling?

Has anyone had negative handling effects when lowering the rear of their softail while maintaining a stock front suspension. I know this will change the geometry and affect the handling SOME, especially when the Deuce already has a fairly raked out head angle. I also know different softails have different frame geometry so the results will vary - just looking for opinions. My assumption is the handling will be heavier and slower - but dramatically different?? Assume a 2" lower rear with Progressive 422s. Thanks for any advice.

Not noticed handling issues but it does ride rougher.

I went with 422's as well. I actually think it handles better! It is a little rougher ride but feels better (hard to explain i guess). I ended up going the full 2" lower at first, then raised it up a bit because I tired of dragging my boards and pipes on every turn. Now they only drag when I push it in the twisties. I don't believe you will regret spending the money on the 422's. I am glad I did.

Thanks for the info...maybe my old Sporty made it's mark on me, but I don't mind a little "road-ish" feel to the ride instead of floating along like a 70's model Caddy.

A good friend of mine lowered his deuce, I think with a kit, not the 422's and said it was night and day better.

I went with Progressive 422 on my 08 Fat Boy and lowered it the full 2". Since then I have raised it back up some and IMHO it rides and handles better...I'd do it again if that helps.
