Default New '09 Heritage

I have done everything but chose the color. Trading in a Low Rider. Are there are any problems with these that I should know about. I am new to the 6 speed, 96 cu in motor, and fuel injection. I hope I won't miss the Dyna, but I would like to have more comfort, and do not want a touring model. Anything I should be aware of?

You won't go wrong. I went from a 03 1200 sportster to a 06 heritage and would never go back. I put 14,000 miles on mine in the last 2 years. and no problems.

Take it slow into your first turn. The Heratige won't dive into the turn. It wants to come out of it and try to put you into the curb. It's the tires, fatter and more wieght.

I test rode a Deluxe, but not the Heritage. They should ride similar, right? I seemed to do o.k. in the turns, but not as well as on my Low.

Also, any thing to know about the counter balanced engine over the rubber mounted one I have currently?

I love my Heritage. I've been on several long rides with it and it handled and performed great. I have thought about moving up to an Ultra for the utility but think I would miss a cruiser too much. Plus I like the smoothness of the frame mounted engine over the shaking rubber mounted Ultra.

The Deluxe (wife has one) sits lower and has different bars on it and thus handles a bit better than the Heritage imo but it takes the bumps a bit harder and the seat is nowhere near as comfortable.

As far as problems. My biggest complaint is the 5th gear rattle though some say they don't have it. And the leather saddle bags which sag over time. My 08s are already caving in on top. I'm hoping to get them retrofitted with stiffeners this winter.

Yes be careful when riding with a big smile on your face that bugs don't get in your teeth.

Your only problem will be wanting to be with it in your garage on the days you're not riding it.
