Default Powder Coat

I have an 04 Night Train with some chrome Vanes Hines pipes. I was wanting to get some black powder coated pipes and a friend mentioned I should just have mine powder coated. Would that work and would it look good? Any suggestions on brands that fit a Night Train?

I would recommend ceramic coating for pipes, not powder coating. If you want different pipes, Vance & Hines has a new "Black Line" with some nice lookin' pipes. The overall fit and finish would probably be better on these.

you can't powdercoat pipes. too hot. ceramic coating is the best option.

I think 300º is the max for powder coating.

I dunno... I powdercoated the heat shields and mufflers on my Night Train almost a year ago, and they've held up very well for about 6-7k miles. The only 'problem area' is at the front of each muffler, where it gets hottest. There, the coating failes, so there's about an inch of each that's silver. No biggie to me, as most of it's hidden by the heat shield. Anywhere chrome turns blue is too hot for standard powder, but all else works fine.

VHT Fire proof paint, 2k degrees. I made my own pipes and sprayed them with these then baked them on per instruction, and i have had no problems with the paint.

I powder coated my heat shields "black wrinkle". I have over 2,000 miles on them and have had no issues
