Default My Fatboy runs great in cold weather

I ride my Fatty to work everyday, outside temp from 37-42f when I left my house, I found my bike runs a lot smoother, more power and sounds quieter, just like riding a brand new bike lol. I guess it has something to do with intake air temperature. How is your world? Are you close to the end of the riding season? Share with us!

Cooler temps demand richer jetting. I do find it interesting an EFI bike benefits in colder weather. Huh? I thought EFI would always adjust for conditions and altitude. I don't have a lot of experience with FI bikes though. My V-rod is the only bike I have owned with FI.

An EFI bike will benift from cold weather because cold air is denser.......bike is taking in more air and there for able to add more fuel and the bike runs better.....more power......

Left work monday night at 11 and going up the highway temp was reading 31 on the bank and the bike felt like a rocket. Still getting use to the 103" build but that night it was unreal. I have no problem riding in the cold but this is the first time since the build and it was crazy! The power was awesome and the bike was that much louder I felt like riding all night.

This morning it was in the upper 20's. My carburetted Dyna ran like crap. Every time I tried to push in the choke she coughed , sputtered and bucked.
15 miles down the road before I could get the choke all the way off.
Worth every minute tho.

I believe the only problem the carb model has is carburetor icing, quite common. My employee's sportster runs like crap in the morning these days, he has to stop on the hwy and warm up the bike, always running on one single cylinder. This is the first FI bike I have, difference is night and day.

My EFI with the XIED's in colder weather runs great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You that good!!!! Better then hot summer days.

My riding season will end when our club events end...so I dont think anytime soon.

For instance we will be participating in the wreath run which a company from main donates wreaths to put on the graves at Arlington National Cemetery. This is scheduled for Dec the 12th from Philly to VA. Got too love it!!!

I rode to work this morning 32 degrees. First time ever I could see my breath as I exhaled sitting at the traffic light. Tomorrow will probably be my last ride for the season. I'm going to change the oil and filter and put both bikes away. Supposed to rain and get colder starting Friday. Sigh....
