Default A Softail added to the garage.

Just wanted to stop in and say hi to the Softail bunch. After intensive searching and looking, between a Heritage and a Road King for the wife, we picked up a 2001, Heritage Classic for the wife this weekend. (Upgrade from a 883 Sportster.) Has 7000 miles on it, and was already lowered front and rear for the wife. Also has Big Gun 3 Cannons on it. Which means she will not be sneaking out of the neighborhood. She is already looking at upgrades, and stuff. I believe a "monster" was created when she got her first Harley.
Sunday she rode it 275 miles with the group and loved every minute of it. She has already specified that first thing is some new iso grips and possibly a small riser to bring the bars back just a little bit and lets not forget the saggy bag kit.
One question I do have is, what years on the Heritage's are parts interchangeable? I know on my 04 EGC, I can pretty much use 99-06 stuff. Are the Softails the same way? Thanks for the info, and I look forward to keeping up with this group.

Congrat's to you and your wife.

Heritage is a great machine. She is gonna luv it.

The gotsaggybags is just what those need. I have them in mine and it's a 100 percent improvement that will last a long time.

Can't tell you exactly which parts are interchangeable for which years for sure so I am of no help to you there.

Congratulations! I think you'll find a big portion of bits from 2000-2006 will work for your 04.

Congrats on the new family member. You may have created a monster, indeed. My wife used to make fun of me when I would talk about that needing upgraded or this needing chromed. Now that she has her won, she talks about that stuff all the time, wants to go to shops to look at bikes, etc.

I got up Sunday morning, thought that I heard thunder. Went outside, nope, not a cloud in the sky. Must have been you and the wife starting up the bikes!!! Good looking bikes, it's hard to beat a clean looking heritage.

You should be good for nearly any parts from 00 to 06, with a bunch more off the newer 07 through 09's. Like conruskie said the parts manual and accessories catalogs will be your friend for that, but they WILL also be your wallets worst nightmare.
May heaven help you now, cause the HD parts counter guys sure as hell won't.
