Default Widest rear tire for 2008 FXSTC

Time for a new rear tire and I'm looking at the 220/50R20 Avon Cobra. Anyone know if the 220 will fit stock without any mods? Curious more than anything right now. I've read anything over 200 sacrifices handling,,,

Mate i think unless you have a 20 inch rim on the back of your custom that tyre wont fit. Thats what the last number designates, the diameter of the wheel, Metzeller do a 210 but different brands end up different widths once fitted to the wheel so dont be sold on the advertised number. Like buying different brand jeans, they all vary a bit, hope this helps a little.

A 210 will fit, but it's close. A lot of people on the board are running a 210.
Ratsmow is correct too.......that 220/50r20 is 220mm wide, 50 sidewall profile and 20 inch diameter.

That's great info, thanks. Been reading about the Metzler 210 tire on this board. Seems folks have different views about whether or not it's worth going for that bit of extra fat versus how long the tire lasts and the like. Think I'll go with the 200 replacement this time around. I'll keep my eye open for 210's already on a bike and see if I like it enough to make the swap next time arouind. Hey tk353, found a tire chart for the Metzler but thanks anyway.

I'm on my second 210 Metz...the first one barely lasted me 5,000 miles...I like the look of the 210 because it fills up the entire rear fender on my 2006 Standard AND they grip better than any other tire I've run...I did have some pics posted of my bike with the 210 tire...but that was before I got banned...
