Angry These HD bikes are high maintenance!!!

Every time I go to work on this bike, I need to go buy another specialty tool!!! Harley Davidson is really smart about building their bikes to get the most $$$ out of their customers....just venting...sorry (handlebar change is taking forever!). This time (after going to HD and the autoparts store numerous times) it's over-sized allen wrenches. I have a suggestion for HD...make their bikes capable to work on with minimal tools!!!!!!!

Tools are an investment, not a cost. Once they're paid for, they pay for themselves.

Just my opinion, though.

And I'll add one more opinion of mine: Calling your bike 'high maintenance' when you're doing things that aren't required isn't being high maintenance. High maintenance relates to things you have to do to keep it running, not modifying it to your liking.

You could keep your bike completely stock and save all that money if you wanted, and just spend money on regular maintenance issues.

I understand your frustration, though, and realize you're probably just venting.

Yeah, regular tools are. How many times is the average joe gonna use that specialty tool. $45. socket to adjust spotlights. The one with the slot in it. I refuse to even buy a dealer T-shirt. Use to, no more.

Just frustrated....wish I had more patience. Gonna take a day to myself and finish this job with zero distractions! I'll have a whole day to ride back and forth to and from parts stores

Wouldn't consider an allen wrench a specialty tool. What are we talking about, a 3/8 allen. With the money I save on labor costs tools are cheap. Even if it's a tool you only use once, you can sell it and recover much of the cost.

I've always had to buy some unique tool for any vehicle I've worked on.

If you think Harleys are bad, don't buy a boat.
