Default Need some gasket help guys

Doing service on my 04 FB. When I got to the primary, expecting to find a simple o-ring gasket for the cover, I found this.

This is not what the service manual looks like. Can I just reuse this, or should I go get the o-ring, or?????

BTW, looks like who ever did the last sevice used antiseize on all the bolts and drain plugs, but the manual does not state to use it.

Thanks
Ernie

Thats the replacement for the o-ring. It works just fine. Get a new one and you are down the road.
A little anti seize wont hurt.

My stock derby cover had the o-ring, The one out of the HD catalog I bought uses the gasket and should be replaced when removed or risk an oil leak.

Yep, that's what's behind my derby cover. You'll want to replace this gasket whenever changing the primary fluid. Only costs a few bucks and you're good to go.

I have the same type of gasket on my evo. I keep a spare and when I service the bike, I use the old one until it begins to leak then I change it and go by another spane. I have been able to use mine up to 3 times. But only torque to specs. Do not overtightten. I use just a little blue loctite on my bolts.

Don't use loctite and don't use never seize. They stopped using the o rings in 05 and went to the "frisbee". Thn the 06 dyna's and all 07 up Harley used a new oring, unless you have a P&A derby cover, then you use a frisbee.

I have reused the o ring on the primary twice now without a problem but I am a cheap ***. I have one of those gaskets in my toolbox in case I need it. Anti-seize is your friend as far as I am concerned.

I only use one small drop of blue loctite. Torque specs are minimal for these screws and these machines do vibrate. Never had a problem getting mine off. I have had problems getting my buddy's off, because they overtighten them.

I trust a gasket more than an o-ring. Aluminum and metal seize anyway, little loctit won't hurt.

I think they are like 15 bucks a piece, I've had mine off and on 3 times now and don't plan on replacing until it leaks. Saved 45 bucks already. There isn't any oil pressure in there, just a splash oil bath. And I use blue loctite and tourqed. I don't want the damn thing to fall off a hundred miles from home... Like wideglide said these things do vibrate.
