I want more power from my 08 night train. for starters should i go gear drive or am i ok staying with chains. Is there a cam that will gian power everywhere threw the rpm range. I love the torque feeling when rolling on the throttle but like to rev it to. I was looking at the andrews 37g or the hq hurricane cam. Right now i have the screamin eagle heavy breather, v&h short shots, fuelpak. which engine managment shoudl i get to i was thinkin sert or pc 3 and having it dyno tuned.

Take a scroll down to the Engine/Fuel/Intake/Exhaust section of hdforums, there is alot of valueable information,,, as I am learning as well..
what I have learned at www.harley-davidson-forum.net (team latus) has every possiable question and answer to Cams, engine builds, dyno charts. For a paid subscription of $4.00, Mike will take care of you,
Its well worth it for just a month, to learn alot,
To answer your question? Well, you won't get giant power through the whole rpm range on cams alone. Cams, ported heads, bore, throttle body, exhaust.
If I had only the 255 cams without the 3-3/8 bores...it would not work the same or give me the same high torque in the beginning rpms. Without my larger bores, the 255 cams would be close to stock cams.Thats not to say the other range of cams wont give you more on there own....but I will let others on this forum with more experience chime in.

With the new hydraulic tensioners in place, you don't need to go to a gear drive system. The HQ500 cam is supposed to be a great cam for putting power to the pavement. Also, if you're looking for a direct bolt-in cam, check out the Wood TW6-6. Both of these cams will perform great in a stock 96", or in a 103" if you decide to upgrade later. The TW6-6 does like a little more compression. Get that fuelpak off your bike and go to a SERT or TTS Mastertune. PM Doc1 to find out more about the TTS system. Good Luck.

Like others have said...do lot's of reading. Don't end up buying stuff you don't need.
96CI TC dyno runs:
this one is with a belt drive setup ($$$optional) TW-6 cams http://www.woodcarbs.com/images/tc96efitw6-6-1.jpg
I'm running a TMax on my 07....works great. i would not use any type of ignition/tuning device that eliminates the function of the o2 sensors. Just seems like a step backwards.

Mopardave is that a chart for a stock 96 or is the compresion higher in that one with some head work? Seems high for just a cam. Is the HQ hurricane and 500 the same cam? I think they are but have never had anyone who acually knows tell me im right or wrong. I would like to upgrade to a 103 with ported heads later. All depends on the money situation. I do live in NH and have the R&R Cycles home building like 15 min away i should go see what they can do for me.

I spoke to Steve at GMR about the TW408-44 about a month ago. If you look at the numbers, and compare them to the TW6-6, they're really close....almost an identical cam, but Wood wants $60 more for the 408-44. Yes, the HQ Hurricane is the same as the HQ-TC-500-HC. If you're going to complete your build down the road, I'd suggest going with a cam that will complement your future build. Just do plenty of research, and make the best possible decisions, even if they cost you just a little more $$ in the beginning.......this makes it easier down the road.

slip ons muffs, air cleaner and cams....+ a dyno tune......they are also using that belt drive for the cams.If the TW-6G is .590 lift (I'm not sure) then I'm sure at a minimum you would have to changed springs. Ya might have to check piston to valve clearance.
I like you're R&R angle. Everything I hear about them seems to nbe good.

Wow those look like some good numbers for that few mods. I wonder if the belt drive makes a big difference? I guess now i gotta decided between the tw6-6 or the hq500. When i get time i want to run over to r&r and see how much they would want to install cams and mabye pull the heads to port and take a little off for more compression. I would love to go big bore but dont have the cake for that right now.
