Default how to install Fuel tank nameplate 61776-61T with adpater kit 61740-90T

has anyone installed on of these tank nameplates on a softail 06 or later?

how did you do it, how hard was it, any advice?

looking at picking one of these for my hertiage softail 09, cause I am not a fan of the tank nameplate that is on there stock. Just trying to do my research and understand what needs to be done to make the switch myself.

thanks for you help

I'm pretty sure most of those are just double stick tape. Clean the wax off the area of the tank you are going to install it (isoprol alcohol works), let it dry, then stick it on.

My buddy put those exact emblems on his 05 Road King and just how Stevevfd said remove wax and use a 3m double sided automotive tape.

I saw as per title of the post as well that there is an adapter kit...if I understood it right the adapter kit is the 2 sided sticktape type in the shape of the emblem to give it maximum adhesion.

Question though is...the tank nameplate has 2 holes for the screws originally used back in the days...does the adpter kit have fakes to pretend that it is screwed onto the tank? or what does one do with the screw holes? leave them empty? is there a way to make pretend that screws are in them if the adapter piece doesn't do this?

thanks

anyone got pics of theirs mounted?

Actually, the adapter plate has screw holes and the emblem has actual screws that screw into the adapter.

I have the one on the far right on my road king. I like the looks and fit very well. My buddy installed the one in the middle on his fat boy. That one is quite large. I think he is wishing he went with the one I have.

Got the post-war ones on my Dyna. They were easy to install. The mounting brackets are easy to stick on, then just hook the emblem on and screw it down. You do have to form them to fit the tank, as they are flat, not curved.

The screws actually clamp the emblem to the backing plate mount that you adhere to your tank. Do not lose them or you will wind up buying another backing plate. The screws are impossible to find online.
