The installation wasn't too hard. The hardest part was actually getting the gas tank off. Having a service manual helped a lot.

Nice writeup. If you have two harleys, is there ANY way that two different bikes could be programmed to the reciever? Or is it set up for one bike, one transmitter? I was going to buy one for my road king, but it would also be great to have on for the dyna.

If not, maybe I'll need to something entirely different.

I think I will add one to the wifes Deluxe. Besides, the tank is already off to be painted. Seems like a great time to do it.

The only suggestion I have, is that it might be a bit easier to just have the garage door go up instead of the garage itself......lol.

Nice writeup though!

yoseppi, you can have as many transmitters on as many bikes as you like with one receiver.

like I said earlier, this is outstanding.

don't know if a moderator has to do this or not but we need this thread or at least
this link http://ImageEvent.com/toneaero/vroom...ragedooropener saved and locked
on a sticky in the DIY Electrical and Lighting section of this forum.

How do we make that happen?

(cockroaches need to stay hidden)

According to Harley's website:

Remote Control Garage Door Opener Kit

Operate your automatic garage door opener without leaving your motorcycle seat or fumbling in your pocket for the remote control. Compatible with most brands of automatic openers, this kit allows you to operate your door by cycling the bike's high-beam switch. The hidden transmitter taps into your bike's wiring harness and is powered by your vehicle battery, so there is no transmitter batteries to replace. When your key is switched off, the transmitter is disabled providing added garage security if you park your bike outside. The signal is sent to the in-garage receiver that plugs into a standard 110-volt outlet and is wired to the automatic opener. The receiver's rolling code technology provides additional security. Kit includes one transmitter and one receiver. Individual components are available to equip additional bikes and garages. Patented.

Looks like you can purchase additional transmitters for different bikes. Costs $69.95 MSRP.

So when you plug in the receiver, did you just splice into the ones going into the garage door opener motor? Does the original garage door button and original opener still work with along with the Harley unit? Thanks for the information.
