THATS SOUNDS CORRECT FOR AN EVO. YOU WILL HAVE 20 TO 24OZ. LEFT IN THE CRANK NEAR THE SUMP. THE ONLY OTHER WAY TO GET ALL OF THE OIL OUT IS TO DO A SCAVENGE ON THE SYSTEM. YOU CAN FIND THE LINK HERE ON THE SITE UNDER DO IT YOURSELF OIL QUESTIONS WHICH GIVES THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO IT. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AND QUESTION WHEN I SWITCH MY 98' TO SYNTHETIC. THE SCAVENGE SOUNDED TO DANGEROUS FOR SOMEONE OF MY LIMITED MECHANICAL ABILITIES WITHOUT BUYING THE KIT FROM SCAVENGER.

mine just has a hose with a plug No o rings anywhere .I have always been able to put a full 3 quarts in.I let the motor warm up first and get almost all out .FYI if and when you drain tranny and primary. The transmission plug is under the transmission cover (where the clutch cable inserts) .It is a T 40 hex and no o ring, just teflon tape.Primary,on left ,T 27(if I remember correctly) lotsa T,s.Teflon tape also.Your manual will tell you use caution replacing this plug ......heed this .
