Default installing kickstand spring

I only saw a few posts about this but was wondering if anyone had an easy way to reinstall the kickstand spring?
I noticed I had ALOT of flop in my kickstand. I took a look & the brass sleeve that goes over the main pivot pin had torn! So I removed the kickstand & am going to get a new sleeve. But just looking at the spring, I know Im going to have issues. I have it up on a jack, just need to know the tricks of the install/ leverage.

Find a way to stretch it open some and put pennies in between the coils. Install it with kickstand in the up position. When you extend the kickstand to the lowered position the pennies will fall out. Several ways to do it, but without special tools, this should work.

The way to do this take the nut and the locking tab off the top of the kickstand, now you can swing the kickstand towards the front of the bike, hook the spring on(you don't need to stretch it)use the kickstand itself for leverage.put the locking tab and nut back on.SIMPLE

+1 very easy to do , there is no tension on it when the stand is forward.

I got 2014 slim there is no nut on top of the kickstand. There is just a pin that goes in. If I remove this pin can I still move kickstand to remove/install new spring?

^^^^This. It's the easiest way and only takes a couple of minutes. Get a friend to sit on the bike and hold it up while you do it. That spring is a lot stronger that it looks and is difficult to stretch.
