Default Vance and Hines Big shots Long vs. Longsots???

Hi guys. A friend is getting new pipes and wants the long shots from Vance and Hines. From what I can gather from the v and h site the only difference is the power chamber and the o2 sensor ports on the big shots long. V and H site does not state the diameter of the big shots long, only of the long shots at 1 3/4". The both seems to have the same size heat shields so I guess they look virtually the same with the exception of the power chamber that is hard to see anyway.

His bike is a 2005 so the 02 sensor ports are useless and would have to be plugged anyway.

I have found the long shots for $400 shipped new and the big shots long are about $550 shipped. His bike has a pcIII that is mapped for V and h Big shots staggered which have the power chamber. Is there going to be much difference in performance between the two of these pipes?
Will they sound different? He is going to be putting quiet baffles in them anyway. Is it worth the extra $200 with the o2 port plugs? Seems to mwe the longshots will be fine. He is not an aggressive rider. Last but not least do you think it will need another map for the long shots? Should be easy enough to do.

Thanks in advance.

bought my bike with the BSL already on it and seller was nice enough to throw in the take off Longshots. Held it up next to the BSL and diameter looked the same.

Previous owner said the BSL made more power (because of the power chamber) and sounded louder vs the Longshots

On a dyno there might be a difference, but the good old seat of the pants dyno is unlikely to notice anything.
Especially if he's going to put a set of quite baffles in anyway.

I do not think the longshots have the full coverage heat shields as the big shots long do. If money is not a big deal go for the big shot longs. Just my 2 cents.

I had the BSLs on my softail for a while. Without the quiet baffle, it had an awful cackle. I didn't like the low end performance plus I got sick of the noise, so I took them off. One of these days I'll sell em. Good looking pipes though.
