Default 5" Carlini Clean Sweeps on 09 Fatboy questions

Planning on replacing stock bars with 1.5" Clean Sweeps with 5" rise. Do I have to move the tank if I am using all the original cables? I read on a different thread that these bars hit the tank. Can I install stops? What about just being careful not to hit the tank?
Thanks

I may be wrong about this but what I think would happen is the handlebar mounted turn signals would hit the tank, not the actual bar. I was very close to getting those bars but made a trade for the FatBoy Lo handlebars instead

It's VERY hard to "Just be careful"
I've seen so many bikes with dented tanks from the handle bars.

In my opinion, go with the 7" rise and avoid the risk.

I have 9" clean sweeps. The directionals cleared with no problem when I had them up on the bars. I think the 7's will just make it. IMHO when the directionals where on the bars it looked like a 737 jet wing with the engine's hanging below. I would think about relocating the directionals while your doing the job. Mine lasted about a month on the bars then relocated them. If you look at my photo's now my bilke has a 4 degree rake so the bars are tilted back a little.

If you install some kind of stop system, you will limit your turn radius, which could become a problem in an emergency situation. As far as being careful, again, in an emergency situation, that kind of thinking won't exist. Is it worth risking your safety just to have cool looking handlebars? Go with a higher rise, it'll still look good.

BTW - I have Burly T-Bars with an 8" rise. I like the way it looks, and I have no interference when I ride.

Relocate the signals to the forks and call it a day.
