Default Sissy Bar Emblem

Does anyone know how to get the emblem off of the sissy bar on an 09/10 Heritage? I want to change the pad and need to get to the screw that holds it on. Do I just yank it off? I have a service manual but that's not covered anywhere in it.

Not the same year but I have a 2006 Heritage Softail Classic and broke mine trying to get it off. The emblem covers one of the screws that hold the backrest on. It is plastic with two "fingers" that is held in place with a couple clips. You can try, carefully, putting like a small screw driver and try to gently pry it a little at a time. One of those little plastic "fingers" snapped on me. I don't know of how else one would get it off and I think its a one time use thing. I just bought another one for around 10bux at the dealer, but I guess I could've just used some glue and reused the other. If you do get one at the dealer be careful to test fit it after you install the new backrest without the clips as the "fingers" may be too long. I had to file off about 1/8 inch or so. They don't warn ya about that. Hope this helps.

on my 07 I took a small screw driver and pried gently on each side going back and forth using very small amount of pressure each time till it worked off...removed it at least twice that was and its still good to put back on.
Also after its out a little bit use a screw driver on each side and put equal pressure on each..

I have a 2010 Heritage, its held on entirely with double stick tape. I got mine off by using a blow dryer to warm it up, and a paint stir sharpened a bit with sand paper to pry and scrape. Then used rubbing alcohol to get the residue off, but that didnt work so well, in retrospect I'd use Goo Gone, would probably have worked better.

Here's the result, what do you think? http://keithhu.smugmug.com/Other/2010-FLSTC/10181302_BzWCZ#700942701_voH2p-X2-LB

Heat it up with a blow dryer or better yet a heat gun if you have one. Then put a double layer of dental floss around your fingers and slide it down behind the emblem. Clean it all up with some googone and then put it back on with some double sided tape from lowes.

Good luck

Does the leather part stay in place? I only want to access the screw to change the pad.

I realize what you are trying to do now. There is no screw. The "metal" medallion is attached to the leather by some metal string like thing. The leather backing would need to come off, but there wouldnt be a way (outside of some other creativity) to attach the little metal medallion back onto the back of the seat rest

I really don't want the leather to come off. Just the metal medialian so I can get to the screw. Sound's like the whole thing needs to be pretty much destroyed to get this done. I appreciate the help with this.
