RE: Vance and Hines Longshots on Deluxe?
I have a Fatboy with the V&H Longshots, but with all the changes that I made I think that it's closer to being a Deluxe. More pics in my gallery.
As far as the pipes go, I love the sound. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that they only have heat shields to the muffler section. I have about 10k miles on the bike and the pipes are beginning to turn gold right where the muffler is. You might want to consider the V&H Big Shots Long, as I believe that these have the heat shield from end to end but they are considerably more. As far as performance I can't say for sure because I installed a Stage 1 air cleaner at the same time, but the combination of the two made all the difference in the world.
Good luck!

My buddy in LA has the V&H longshots and loves them. We did a ride up MT Hood and they sound great! I followed him part of the way to listen to the full effect of the pipes. His bike runs great, moves out very smartly and he has ridden Harleys for over 30 years.
They are cheaper since they do not have the full heat shield or expansion chamber.
The Big Shot Longs are more expensive, $575 at the V&H website but $447 at Eastern Performace. They have the expansion chamber and the full heat shields. Great sound too and you can add the quiet baffels if you choose for $29 each pipe. The expansion chamber is supposed to give the bike a bit more power.
Both the longshots and the big shot longs look and sound great.
Did you decide against the V&H ProPipe. That is the one that puts out the most hp with engine mods? I don't like the looks of the single pipe as much as the double pipe, but that is just my opinion. Lots of great stuff out there. Look at Bassini and Reinheart also.
I am doing the V&H big shot staggered as soon as they arrive, with the V&H fuelpak and SEAC. So if you like, following my install you can come on down to Portland and listen for yourself.
