If you want to go the less expensive route get the RSD Vintage kit. It is new this year. I think it will accommodate that fat *** on your bike. It retails for $599. The Heartland rocker kit retails for $1999. That being said the Heartland kit is much more refined and comes with a few more bells and whistles. Just to clarify, the RSD Vintage kit has steel struts and fender where as the more expensive RSD kit ($900) has aluminum struts. I am still waiting for a good pic of the Vintage kit as the new RSD catalog is yet to arrive.

I'm struggling with the same question. I have a shadetree fender on my bones right now and love how it hugs the tire but its just not cuttin the mustard! Neither the the RSD or the Heartland seems to have tire hugging look i'm going for. Is there a way to get either of them to sit on the tire more?

Air ride. But I don't know if they will sit as low as the Shadetree. The Shadetree is a really nice looking fender.

Yeah i don't like the gap between the rear wheel and fender. Its been a chore trying to keep my fender from moving after a few rides and i think i might like to have the option to go two up if i want to.

There both nice! Heartland gives you the option of having a passenger backrest though.

I am having the same problem in making my decision, the shadetree wasn't working. I am wondering if going with the 18" rear rim will help close the gap between the fender and tire. I just wish more people had the RSD before I go with another fender, just to get rid of it in 2 months like the Shadetree. Maybe with the new lower RSD price more people will be buying them.
