Default Need help with heated grip install on 2023 Low Rider ST

I have installed heated grips on all my Harleys - softail to sportster and this is the absolute most difficult. I got the dang USB caddy off and the 69201750 kit part connected (the part connecting to the wiring in the USB caddy is labeled 69201749, which might be important for the next part). So before I fully reinstall the USB caddy and start on the actual HD heated grips (instructions direct to use the 69201750 kit) I just tried to see how the wires would connect, and herein is the problem. The heated grip has two connectors - and neither mates with the power coming from the USB caddy. Pictures below, power connection from USB caddy circled in RED, connectors coming from heated grip circled in BLUE. Appreciate any helpful guidance.

I think an adapter harness is required. I think it's described in the online installation document from Harley when you look up heated grips on their web page.

i have the only adaptor harness that they require (#69201750, which includes the noted part 69201749 as the main connector between the USB caddy and the line from the grip. I saw a video from a German guy (very detailed video, seems like he was quite knowledgeable) who got to the same point as me and had to splice the wires, but the poorly written instructions make it seem that they should just connect.

Looking at the instructions, they do say cut and splice. Why they do that instead of a plug in harness, I do not know.

  1. Cut jumper (4) to length sufficient to splice to kit (6).
  2. Strip back wires and splice to electrical connection harness (7).
    1. Black to Black (ALL)
    2. Dyna and 2016 - 2017 Softail : Red to Red/Yellow (72673-11)
    3. 2014 and Later Touring: Red to V/BE (69200722 or 69201599A)

yup. I confirmed with my local HD service shop - either cut replace the connector on the 69201750 kit part or splice - I went the splicing route and just used the butt connectors that come with the kit. Annoying that you pay $35 for a harness kit and have to splice anyway. Oh well, they are installed and working as they should.
