180-200 mm Tire on 16" Wheels
I have an 04 Fat Boy. I would like to install a 180-200 rear and possibly a 140 front tire. The 18" wheels are popular however I like tires with a higher profile/sidewall for ridability and potholes.
Does anyone know if you can widen a stock Fat Boy 16" Wheel to accomodate a 16" 180-200mm tire? (eg Metzler 180/60 R-16, 180/70 R-16, 200/60 R-16). Or is there anyone who can make up something that looks close to the 16" FatBoy wheel in either cast aluminum or chromed version of cast wheel? Wheel size would need to be 16 x 5.5-6.0".
I would also appreciate some referrals for swing arm, fenders, etc. I would like to keep the look of my bike as close to stock as possible. I like a 'meaty' look in tires. That's why I'm thinking of a 16" wheel. The tire height on the 18s are just too low for my taste. I would like the stock tire height but with a 180-200 width. I may need someone to widen/repaint the stock fenders also.
Has anyone tried this with 16" wheels? I want to limit mods to swing arm, wheels/tires and fender only....I want to keep the stock belt size and not offset tranny or rear wheel.
Your help is appreciated

RE: 180-200 mm Tire on 16" Wheels
I think when you get up to a 180 X16 the caliper will hit the tire.I put a 180x18 on my nighttrain and the wheel and tire misses the caliper.I believe a 180 Metzeler will hit the tire but not a 180 Avon.A 200 will definetely hit the stock belt without spacing.
