Default Steering Bump Issue - Forks hit tank

So I put this "Fat Kid" kit from JP cycles on my 2003 Deuce, which is basically a FLST front end and I have an issue...the forks hit the gas tank at full steer. So I think I need to put in some sort of spacer in the lower triple tree to stop this. My question is how should I go about this? Glue in a rubber spacer, weld in a piece to fill the gap? Or whatever.

Looking for some advice. Thanks.

Welding would probably best. I have heard of people drilling and tapping the lower tree and bolting a piece of metal to extend the tree where it hits the stop if that makes sense. There is also a guy on ebay that sells external fork stops but I'm don't know much about that route.

I did find some resources for different fork stops, most look like they involve drilling and tapping into the lower triple tree. My short term plan is to take a small piece of square stock and JB Weld it into the space on the lower triple tree and see how that works. That way I can avoid welding and/or major modifications.

Pro One has an internal fork stop kit.
Pretty simple install, hardest part is taking the old bearing race out.
