Original tires on 09 Fatboy!
I just want to relay my experience with the OEM tires on my Fatboy. I was kinda disgusted with the longevity of the stock rear tire on my 09 Fatboy (7000 miles). So, because I'm going on a 4000 mile trip into Canada and then to Sturgis, I decided to go with a new rear tire. WOW! I put a OEM Crossbones tire (I believe its a Dunlop D401) on the rear, and wow what a difference. It's a lot quieter than the OEM tire, and handles the same. So I started to think about the front (I had been having some decel wobble ). I decided to go ahead and put a front tire on. I went with the Dunlop D205, and BINGO, my front end wobble went away, I noticed when I took the front off, it had a little uneven wear (cupping). The indy I used to install the tire onto the rim said that the D407 had been recalled for cupping. Just wanted to let everyone know, if you have a little wobble and still have the OEM front tire, take a good look at it. My tires cupping was very subtle, but noticeable. Now I can let off the gas at 60mph, let go of the handle bars, and no wobble at all, all the way down to 20 mph. I all smiles now.

Let us how many mi. you get on the crossbones rear tire vs the D407. 7k is what I avg. on my rear D407's. I just put ther 4th one on my '06 FXST. My guess is you'll get about the same miles on the xbones tire as the D407s. It comes with the territory. I've seen post of people saying they get a lot more than 7K, as many as 14k, personally Ithink their full of it. They probably ride 'em down to the fibers showing and don't get their bikes inspected. You won't get the same mi. on the wider tires as say the 130mm or 150mm.

tire air pressure, road surface and driving style will change the mails you get. I have a d401 crossbones tire. i have 8k and going to sturgis i am changing it withe same as it is also cheapest. just 135 delivered. i am going with dyna beads this time also. i got 9500 on the stock dunlop fatboy tire. if you have a 16 in fatboy tire you can get the new multi tread tires they are putting on the touring bikes

Good luck Spelk3, report back on the outcome. Perelli's ride great but it's mainly because they are softer rubber even on the narrower sizes they aren't known for high milage.
