Default 06 FXSTI EFI Exhaust Question

I'm planning on installing Screamin' Eagle II Slipons with the stage one Air filter Kit and a PCIII USB. My Question is should I have the Harley dealer recalibrate the ECM or should I just do it myself using the PCIII.

the PCIII is a piggy back right? If so then the PCIII will do it once you program in the proper settings either off the internet or someone goes one step farther and programs them in off a Dyno readout.

Don't bother with the Harley Stage I download. The PCIII will correct for any changes you make to the bike. Maps are available for the PCIII that fit your configuration (with or without the Stage I download).

I definitely have more power. The power band is much better down low and the SEII pipes sound pretty good. I think they are a bit "blatty", if you know what I mean. The engine runs great at all rpms. I think it may run a bit cooler too, now that it's not running so lean. My only real issue is with slow starts. It takes another revolution or two for it to fire. Not a big deal, but I hear Dynojet is working on it. It only seems to affect the 06 models. Go figure.

On my '06 Standard I have the 25 degree injector swap with a set of V&H Big Shot staggered, Ness Big Sucker air cleaner and PCIII w/ a map for my pipes and AC that I downloaded from the supplied CD and I installed everything myself...I have noticed the extra couple of cranks it takes to start the bike but it's really not a big deal and once the bike starts, it runs stronger and cooler from bottom to top and of course it sounds WAY better than stock...at this time I see no reason to lay out the $$$ for a dyno-tune but if I went deeper into the engine with any mods (cams, jugs, heads, etc.) it might be nesessary.

there is a hd service bulletin from february 20, 2006 that states some of the 8 degree angle cone spray injectors used on 2006 1450big twins may cause cold start and or driveability problems. if you are experiencing problems the dealer is supposed to install 25 degree injectors at no charge to you. harleys produced after feb 13, 2006 are supposed to come with 25 degree injectors. you can check the injectors yourself and see what you have 8 degree #27625-06 25 degree # 27709-06a. i checked my bike and i have the 8 degree injectors(old ones). i have not experienced any difficulty thus far. if you do a search you can locate a copy of the hd service bulletin m-1185 dated february 20, 2006. pat
