Crossover line removal when pulling tank..
In the process of pulling the tins for painting I have read quite a few posts on this site regarding pulling the tank and the potential for gas spillage when removing the crossover line. Things I learned from the forum:
1.dont do this in the garage....do it in the driveway
2.dont try to save the line...for $1.75 I bought a new 1 at the auto parts.
3.siphon out as much gas as possible and there will still be gas left in the tank.
4.with 2 sets of needle nose vise grips clamp the line and cut in the middle....not a drop of gas leaked out.
I want to add that without the information contained in this forum from all you folks I would not have had the confidence to attempt pulling the tins myself...and the service manual is invaluable.
