Default Am I missing something? Mud flap behind seat / battery area?

94 softail

where the fender ends at the battery box / oil tank / seat area there's about a 2" gap. Where I'm livin right now is pretty wet and muddy and ****'s gettin inside on my ignition module etc.

there are three holes drilled, obviously something's meant to be mounted there...

Could probably just fashion something but wondering if there's a pre-made part that belongs there?

My 1986 has a rubber piece riveted on and it drapes over the plastic splash guard.

There is a plastic mud flap missing. You can see something like it in this schematic, item 180...

These pics are also from a 94. It's nuthin but a piece of rubber, 4.75 X 5.25, goes down behind and overlaps the splash guard. The second pic I dug it out of there so you could see the whole thing. You could make this real easily.

Wonder what happened to it?
Its not something that will fall off without some external (someone screwing around) help.
Did you get the bike new or used?
I'll bet it was used and some time in its past the owner pulled it out to do something (what I have no idea) and either forgot to put it back or said the hell with it.
Though why is another mystery cause its not that big a deal to put back.

haha probably vibrated off

nah, I bought this bike used, and it's been picked apart over the years. It was a CA bike, so someone just probably thought it wasn't necessary.
