Exhaust compatability for 1984 FXST

Not going to help you but I put a new take off from a 2009 96 Night Train on my 2004 88 Deuce. Bolted right up. Just plugged the oxygen sensors. Need to eyeball it if the numbers do not match. Check aftermarket and see if they list the model years together. I ask the Harley part man and he said not a chance for mine, saw a old fellow in service and ask him, he said sure. Not an old school man but if the frame and heads did not go through a big upgrade I bet it will fit. Harley likes interchange ability even if they are always changing part numbers. A lot do this. Did you know the doors on old Dodge trucks fit Chevys?

For the most part no...the reason...the kick start. Very few Softail exhaust will clear the kicker...and those that will usually still say they fit 86-99. If you look in a catalog and the exhaust is in front of the trans cover...it will not fit. If you remove the kick start, virtually any Softail exhaust will fit.

I found the same problem when buying pipes for my '84 FXST. I ended up with Cycle Shack M series.
What are your pipes? I also like the front fender. Do you have a side view of your bike? Who makes the fender?
