Default help

I have a 2006 Night Train Fuel Injected and I posted a thread yesterday but didnt get much help from it. Is is possible to install custom exhaust without getting the download from the dealership and will it cause problems in the motor. I bought a 7 year warranty for the bike but I also dont want to spend $600 just to have my exhaust installed.

Thanks

..not much response because it's been asked about a 1000 times, if you don't get an answer right off try search function. That being said, you should be fine with just a pipe change w/o download..but, you really should change out to stage I all together ie: pipes. a/c and download, sert or pcIII for best performance, actually a little cheaper than piecemealing it all together at different times.

No download is required w/o changing the intake. The pipes will only let out as much exhaust as is taken in. Youmay experience some exhaust popping on decel w/o a tune. This is normal it willnot damage the engine however, it will annoy you a bit. When you replace the air filter system some tuning will be required as the motor will be running way lean. I would suggest the Power Commander III by DynoJet. It is easily installed and you can upload a canned map into the system via a personal computer. The popping exhaust can be tuned out with the PCIII as well. Hope this helps.

I do not know if you are just going for soundor power, if you change your pipe's the bike will run lean, it want damage bike for a while though, but not to tell you how to spend your money but hell get a good exhaust system and K&N air filter, than at 1000 mile service have aSERT and DYNO-TUNE your bike,it will have more H.P. & Tourqe, I know it cost some but you are riding $20,000.00 bike let it run the bestit can, you will not be sorry.GOOD LUCK. PURPLE HAZE.

Hey inmustangs5...I'm going to agree with purple haze in this case. The pipes are just one part of doing your bike a huge favor! The intake and ECM module are really needed to get a big improvement in performance and ridability with your new HD. The pipes are the biggest expense in the equasion...the remaining parts are relatively cheap. The PCIII is 'plug and play' for the most part, and like the Stage I AC can easily be installed by the owner. JMHO

Good luck...

ONE more thing is it's your money but if your planning on keeping bike do not go cheap on the pipe's and get the one's with heat sheild's so you want see blueing and I have heard of people buying the short pipe's but forgot about the soat that blow's back on your chrome and rear wheel, it's a pain to keep clean that's why I buy on the long side or turn out's just my penny!! GOOD LUCK! PURPLE HAZE.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I just installed the pipes tonight without a download or doing anything else. I did not notice any popping, i know thats odd but there wasnt any. The pipes are turn outs so there wont be any sut going back onto the rear tire or the rest of the bike and there are heat shields.

Thanks again,
Jake
