Default Rear shock bolts

What brand and what socket do you use on these? Last time I used a 3/4 Craftsman swivel socket and there were no problems getting the back bolts out. This time around I snapped 2 sockets.

These are on so tight using a 4' cheater bar, heat and WD40 isn't budging the one on the right.

Note: My 3/4 air impact socket won't fit it is too tight to get that in there.

With a 4' cheater bar I would imagine you would snap a socket or 2. Are they rusted? You may want to hit them with some penetrating oil and let it sit for a bit before going at it again. You say you have an impact gun, do you have a socket that will fit it? If a 4' cheater bar and with an impact socket breaks, it that bolt is never going to break loose.

I just used an open/closed wrench. Put it high on the lift and strapped it down, put the closed end around the bolt, and gave it a few sharp raps with a 3 pound engineers hammer (the po' boy impact tool). Once it broke loose it was no problem. Good luck!

Thx going to go buy a 3 pound hammer. Then try this method. If it doesn't come off going to let the Stealer deal with it once the replacement shock comes in from Cali.

Swivel socket joint can't handle the pressure I guess.

Got one. It fits on the left side but the right side of the bike there is a tube that is closer to the bolt. Not enough room for the socket to fit on that side.

Open ended wrench is what I use too. If you need extra leverage put a piece of metal pipe over the end of the wrench. I always get mine off on the first try. Guess I'm lucky like that.
