Default Rear brake light switch

So, noticed this morning that my rear brake does not light the brake light. Front does just fine. Here is what I was thinking in order of checking things out...any other ideas certainly welcome as I tend to miss the obvious!

Brake fluid level in rear master
2 ( I believe) connectors connect to the switch
See if current when brake is applied, but I dont know which connector should have power....hmmm
Then if those are good. Replace the dadgum switch and bleed the brakes

I had the switch for the rear brake light go out on my rid e a while back. I went to auto zone and picked up a replacement for a few bucks. My bike is an 02 so I am sure you switch is the same as mine. It's an easy fix.
