HD dealership/website don't even know the difference (FLST/FLSTC)
i have a 2006 FLST (heritage softail, not the classic) ... the orignal heritage softail FLST was made from 86-90, then in 91 they went to the classic (FLSTC) ... in 2006 HD released the FLST (20 yrs after the first heritage), then discontinued it that same year... but it seems not many people know the difference between heritage and heritage classic, including both dealerships i've been to for parts and the HD website... for instance:
1.) bought a stock passenger seat off a 2006 FLSTC cuz the dealer said it would fit my FLST... it DID NOT fit... the two front bolt holes are closed on the FLSTC seat (FLST are open-hole, easy-detachable) and the bolt holes on the FLSTC seat are about 3/4" closer together than the FLST... not even close... plus, the rear of the FLSTC seat has a female connection underneath, whereas the FLST seat has a fixed, male hand-tightening bolt affixed to the rear of the seat.
2.) i went back to TWO dealers in houston, both guys assured me that ALL 84-06 softail FL passenger seats will fit one another... clearly, this is wrong.
3.) even the HD website! it says the OEM passenger seat (part #51763-07) will fit an 05-07 FLST... there's no such thing as an '05 or an '07 FLST, the FLST was not made those years, only in 2006... the other dealer tells me to buy the 52912-00 seat, that it fits EVERY FL softail 84-06, which i know is BS. now i don't even know what seat to buy!
Sucks big time, i wonder how many other parts i will buy that won't fit? anybody else have these problems?

If memory serves me right, your bike will interchange with an 07 FLSTC. You do have two posts sticking thru the rear fender that the riders seat bolts to, and the passenger pillion slides into the "nuts" that hold the riders seat.
Very easy solution.....I sell you a stock seat and passenger pillion will fit. It will bolt on the side frame where you have threaded inserts and the passenger pillion is bolted the drivers seat and thumb screwed to the rear fender....ta da!!

hahaha... thx geez... but yeah, the FLST is the one without the bags/windshield... i was going for a fatboy when i bought it but liked the stripped down yet "classic" look of the heritage when i got to the dealership.
