Fat Boy vs. Fat Boy Lo
#12
The 2012 Fatboy Lo and the standard Fatboy both come with the exact same seat, The difference is the Fatboy Lo is 1.15 inches lower suspension! I can tell you i just bought a 2012 Fatboy Lo in Big blue pearl and it is the most comfy bike that i have ever riddin and owned. Trust me even tho its lower then the standard fatboy the ride is exactly the same your just sitting a tiny bit lower. As far as comparing the two i think the Lo is much nicer mainley cause i love the blacked out look. When i was first looking for a new bike last year i didnt really like the satin chrome on the low. But my opinion changed especially when i saw the bike in big blue pearl. The blacked out parts with the satin chrome and the dark blue paint job looks amazing to me! I love this bike! Oh and im 6ft and this bike is not too low for me at all it fits perfect!!

In 2010, the Fat Boy Lo had a rear suspension travel of 3.6", versus the 4.3" found on the Fat Boy. This means one of two things. Either...
A. The Fat Boy Lo has a stiffer spring rate to compensate, resulting in a stiffer (by comparison) ride.
-or-
B. The Fat Boy Lo has the same spring rate and risks hitting the bump stop and suffering subsequent damage.
My guess is that it's "A." This jives with the fact that they use different shock assemblies. The Fat Boy uses part #54508-00B and the Lo uses part #54549-04.

yea really.
first off, i have a rigid frame BSA and used to have a evo FB. i have had well over 40 bikes in my dayz. my only point being comments aimed at me about being a p*ssy or complaining about vibration are totally unwarranted. however for 18 grand for a motorcycle, i dont think asking about how it performs is out of line.
as one poster was nice enough to mention, there seems to have been some variable differences in the 2 bikes since the Lo's inception. harleys web site says there is .5 inch or more in various specs between the 2 2012 FB's. seat height, and lean clearance Lt and lean clearance Rt. so there is some difference. miniscule perhaps, but i would still wonder as to why.
so my friend . depending on the year , i think he test road the 2010, may have been correct, and the dealer who told me the seat was the difference was wrong?
thank you guys. back to harleys site and i will also try another dealer. for all i know i was sitting on 2011 models and thats what the dealer was talking about.

height and suspension wise on the Fatboy LO's 2010-2012 I don't think has changed and for the standard Fatboy the only reason I see a drop in the height is because of the different seat. If your riding ridgid now or have in the past you will love the ride of the new Fatboy. Like I mentioned My new Lo is night and day compared to my old 96 Evo FB.

Ok, Like i said before the shocks are the difference. They are lower then the regular Fatboy buy 1.15 inches. But the shocks them selves that absorbe the road and shock are the same .. the difference is the adjustment rods that run threw the middle are shorter! For example my buddy went to the dealer to get his Night train lowerd, They told him there is 2 ways he could do this. first option is buy the already lower shocks with shorter adjustment rods brand new. Second option use your old shocks and everything stays the same but they will just rebuild them and install the shorter adjustment rod that runs threw the center of the shock. Price wise the later is the cheaper choice and that is what he is doing just switching out the center rod to a shorter one which will lower is bike a full inch. So as you see the shocks are the same with the same internals just a different lenth rod.. Hope this helps!
