Just recently realised that my brakelight wasn't working. Changed the taillight for a cheap chinese led-light about a month ago, so I figured the brakelight was gone. So I just went online to look for alternatives.

But now I see that lots of people get this problem after changing grips/bars, because they break the brakelight-switch in the front brake housing. And I did change my grips AFTER changing the taillight and checking that it was working. Which it was at the time.

I'm offshore right now, so I can't check mine, but how do I know if its the light itself, or if it's the switch? Wanna get this straight when I get home in two weeks time. Hopefully it's just the switch, cos I love that taillight

 

If your rear brake light works, its the switch. If neither (front or rear) work, its the light (or wires to it).

 

Does it go bright and stay there when you hit the brake lever? Just front or rear? Hook up the stock light to troubleshoot.

 

Rear break light doesn't work, but Im not sure if the light stays on all the time, or if it's off... I understand that most of the time when the switch is broken, the breaklight stays on.

But I'll just hook up the old light when I get home, and see what happens.

+1 for broke the switch changing grips (light stays on), but didn't notice until I changed rear brake pedal, soooo naturally assumed I had somehow broken the rear switch/master. Yeah, that took some back tracking until read the forum. Best of luck, Kevin.

 

My light would work when i hit the foot but would not work with leaver it was the switch in the bars put on new one 65.00 works good now.

 

Finally got to check the bike, and it turns out it's the light itself. So now I need a new one. Any suggestions?

Don't want the KyruYakin, since I dont have room for the control-module under my seat. Anybody else make a simple tail-light with intergrated turnsignals?
