Default 20,000 mile service FLSTC

I performed the 20,000 mile service today. Drained all 3 fluids and something didn't look right. According to my manual & HD, the primary and transmission use the same type fluid. Yet, when I drained the transmission fluid, it had a milky/tan color too it. It looked nothing like the primary fluid.
Your thoughts?
Thanks

I'm no mechanic, but milky oil has always been a sign of water, or at least moisture in oil. But like I said, I'm no mechanic.

I agree - moisture. Same thing happened to me. Cheap cover, got to buy one that's cotton. My mechanic said same thing happened to his son...

How would water get into the transmission area?

Short rides and cool weather, If you do this loosen the the filler cap so condesation can escape. And replace the o ring on the tranny dip stick when you change the fluid.

And make sure it is tight after you check it. how often have you washed the bike that could also be a source if things were not tight.

I'm thinking it's a bad o-ring. The transmission case is a closed loop system. The only way water to get in there is through the filler plug. Either it was loose or the o-ring is bad.

I wash the bike often...may just give her a *****'s bath from now on ;-)
