Default 96 Fatboy, widest rear tire

ok here it goes i searched this site, and the internet, not really finding what im looking for. my fatboy is a 96, with the stock mt90b16 tire on the stock rear solid wheel. the tire is shot i need a new one, i would like to go wider if i can without modifying everything. From what i have read it seems a 130 is stock? it will fit just fine, a 150 is a tight squeeze, and then there is differnces in width per manudfacturer, im getting frustrated, anybody put a wider tire on an older fatboy? pics with sizes? how about a 140/90B16, Thanks in advance.

Well, I have a 98 Fatboy and run the 130. If 140 is all you can go why bother. Even 150 isn't much of a change. Run the 130 and fogeettttaaaboutit... If you want wide, buy the aftermarket kits. They are really expensive and really mod the bike so make sure its what you want.

Spend the money and upgrade to the 200! It's so nice!

You can get a 150 on there but it is very likely to rub with 2 up riding. IMO opinion it also kills the handling because the tire is too wide for the rim. Buy a kit or don't waste your time.

thanks for the responses, i have a 200 on my chopper, and i have a wide tire kit that fits the fatboy, i didnt want to put it on, i thought if i had to buy a new tire i might as well go bigger since the original looks small. but as it turns out my buddy had a fresh takeoff for free, same size so im puttin it on now....

I am running the Dunlop Elite 3 MU90b16 (140 width) on my 2000. It has a harder compound in the center of the tire and more usable tread wear depth per the Dunlop rep. Ride is great and I just replaced the rear at 17,000 miles.
