Totally agree with all you stated but one important factor here. Oil in any application is relative to machinery or engine efficiency.
Oil cooler should help some.

Running an oil cooler will help your engine components, especially is it has a fan on it.
I have worked in the Hydraulic industry over twenty years and we often have to place oil coolers with in our systems all the time. Reason being, oil breaks down with heat and makes moving parts less efficient. Then you get wear and tear a lot faster. Some state it's not advantageous but even the slightest change in lower oil temp helps.

Take a look at Love Jugs, air fans as well. These fans are killer! and makes me wonder why Harley never ran something like this at the least. I know why?
so they can make more money off of us haha. Ever notice, how everything is five hundred bucks!

Oil Bud is the answer. Mounts under the engine and between the engine and tranny. It's bullet proof, works, and is out of sight. I have one on my 11 Fatboy Lo with a 124" motor. 20 to 25 deg drop from before and after. Spendy but so was the bike and motor and if it extends it's life a few years well worth the money. Look em up.

How has the oil bud been doing since installation and your this post? I'm looking to put a cooler on mine but I don't like the down tube mounted ones. I have the same bike as you.

Snowyone hasn't been active on this forum since November, 2018. You're unlikely to get a response from him.

For what it’s worth, even if this tread is years old , I just installed a Ultracool fan assisted cooler on my 07 flhtc and it works well. The fans kick in at 210 degrees.
