I was looking at a new bike just for an idea what do you think I could sale this 2003 fxst for with 17k miles? all I want is a idea in this bad market best case scenario

 

 

Retailed for about 15K when new. Now 9 years old...Maybe 8K? ( Paint maybe adds 1K to that.)

Nice looking bike but I don't think the paint set adds anything, unless you're lucky enough to find a buyer looking for that paint set. NADA says $8,000 but like I said, it's a nice looking bike and you might get more. Also, not the time of year to sell a bike up north. My brother sold his '06 FXST w/custom paint set this summer for $9,500 and he was happy to get that. JMHO

 

Google Kelly Blue Book and follow the prompts till you get the info your looking for....you probably already know all the extras don't get you extra mulla......unfortunate but true.

 

you might get a good price on it trading it in, dealers want to move bikes, ask, it doesn't cost anything. the age might hurt that idea though

 

I'd start off checking the NADA value because it was my recent experience that most of the lenders go by this value when folks finance used bikes. NADA also states 10% to 30% can be added for custom work etc.

If you end up wanting more and the buyer just has to have your bike, they'll come up with a few extra dollars to give you in addition to what they can finance.

If you can swing it, buy the new bike now and hang onto your present bike until spring. You would be buying at the best time to buy and selling at the best time to sell.

 

Generally,custom paint could even detract from the value,but since it's Harley custom paint & particularly nice, it may add. I think it's a great looking bike,very tastefully done,always have liked it when I saw it posted here, & I would pay a grand over value for that paint. But that's me.
