Default ABS cables for Blackline new Apes & Extended FWD controls

Since new models are rolling out the factory with ABS systems and my Blackline is ABS equipped, will I be able to order extended brake lines once I choose new apes? As I noticed no one really discussed it being an issue and thought maybe most have there Blacklines without ABS.

I just ordered the extended forward control for my Blackline and noticed it comes with extended brake lines which I am hoping will work with my ABS system.

By the way, has anyone installed extended forward controls on a Blackline yet? I seem to get mixed reviews on them and wondering if I made the right choice.

I have a 2011 heritage Classic with abs. I am currently changing my bars to 16" apes. The biggest pita was finding an upper cable for the abs. I had to get it from HD. They are the only ones that make one. I am waiting for it to come in, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Sweet, keep me posted as I have decided to go for custom built apes. Another issue you might run into as per HD is the wiring, according to them you wont be able to cut them you will need to order extended ones. Lets see..

I can't imagine that there is something special about HD wiring that you can't splice in a longer piece of wire. And, it seems to me that as long as you use a brake line that is less compressible than stock, that even custom made lines would work for ABS.

Apparently the issue is with the electrical wiring, there seems to be an issue when extending the wires as its not as simple as just cutting and extending according to mechanics in HD.

Just a quick question, when installing apes what would be the best size of cables? As I will be installing 18" apes with 4" risers and for the throttle cables, clutch would it best to have a little extra length?

Man you must be a giant! 22" total rise... WOW! Anyway, I used the namz extension kit which they make specifically for my bike. They worked perfect. Plug and play, no cutting, splicing. Just disconnect from under tank and plug them in. Used +8. Have a little extra tucked under the tree. Careful though, with the abs thing, HD "recommends" you change both upper and lower lines. Why I do not know. My guess is that the upper is 69the bucks and the lower is 219! You do the math. Have fun....

Well I'm 6'2 and where I am doing the custom apes he reckons I need 18" but I think 16" So its still on the drawing board stage so once I go in for the size up I will update the final height with pictures
