Default Screamin Eagle EFI Race Tuner Kit Questions.

I have a acquired a free race tuner but I've got a couple questions. I was going to post them in the EFI tech forum but it seems dead in there.

I have an older Screamin Eagle EFI race tuner part number 32107-01G

From what I have read on here it seems like once the unit itself has been used on a bike it cannot be used on other.

Is this the correct information? Or will I be able to install it on my 06 FXSTI?

Also I have read that the cables the hook into the ECM and then to my computer are around $30. Can anyone confirm that? I have the software with the kit that has been unopened as well.

Thanks for any help in advance.

True, its married to the ECM.

If it was once use on another bike, U have to have that ECM to install on Ur bike or it won't work.

If its not been used then if it was mine, I'd take it to someone that can tune it and have a good Dyno tune done..

Very few can set the tables correct on them, U do know there are over TWO thousands settings to tune with the SERT. Thats why there where such a good tuner, But U better know what Ur doing if U try to do it Urself.

Of course now there are several SELF tuners that U can buy, instead of doing dynos.

Son and I have had 4 SERT and we both still have them on our bike, Once set up and U don't go any mayor mods they are great.
We haven't had to touch ours after have the dyno's.

The cables can be bought at the dealer, I don't know the Cost of them at the present time.

I've had mine for 5ys and with 36k on my bike, I am totally happy with it. Never had a problen one with the tuner.

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

Sucks that the SERT can't be reflashed from the computer to be able to be used on other bikes. I guess they wouldn't make as much money at the hd dealers if that was the case.

I think the above is correct with the older tuner you have being married to the bike, but I can tell you that with the new tuners it depends on which one you have.

The SESPT (SE street perfoormance tuner) is married to the ECM on whatever bike it is installed,
The SERTPRO (SE race tuner pro) can be used on as many bikes as you want to use it on.
This is information that most dealers won't share so they can sell you a new tuner when you get a new bike, but my dealer showed me their book on the tuners and assurred me the SERTPRO CAN be used again, but it is the only one that can. This is why I spent the $459 for it. The SEPST was $200 cheaper & is a lot more limited on what you can do compared to the SERTPRO.

True,, I'd charge 50 bucks a pop and make money.

The other thing is its not a piggy back type F/M,
meaning U have to have it to tune Ur bike, So even if U could use it on other bikes. How would U like to be out on the road and something happens where U needed the SERT to retune Ur bike. Only to have someone else who owns the Org SERT 700 miles away and Ur stranded till U get it sent to U or have to buy another new one.

Again if its not been used then Ur OK to install it.

I wonder about if it has been used on a bike, THEN there is some poor dude who can even retune his bike without the one U have..

Also who ever sold it, (IF U paid for it) probably knew this and just SCREWED both U and Who ever has the bike it (the SERT)belongs With.

I didn't and haven't paid for this older SERT I just happened to be in a position to get one for free, but since it's "married" to an 07 FLHX I won't worry about messing with it anymore.

SERTPRO sounds like the way to go though.

If Ur a upstanding dude,, I'd try to find what bike its married to and give it to that owner.

Think,,, If U owned the other bike,,, would u like to have the SERT in-case U ever wanted to change the tune on Ur bike.

I wouldn't just throw it away, Please take the time and look up who owns the bike its married too and give it to him if U can....

Thats the whole purpose of ths forum,,, TO HELP OTHERS.......

NOT just say, F,I, and the Vell with others.

Its Ur choice,, but if it was me,, I'd know what I'd do to help other HD owners..

It was a freebie off a trade in at my shop. Luckily I'll be sure to keep it with the bike that way it saves the future owner $$$ if they ever change it in the future.
