Default Removing license plate holder

i just mounted a side license plate bracket to mount my plate on on my 03 night train. now i have the old black plastic license plate holder hanging off the back of my bobtail fender. so i was wondering what is the best way to remove it? i was thinking if i use a cut off wheel it will melt the plastic and look bad. so i was wondering what you guys think.

I used the dremel on my brothers plate bracket and it does melt through but you can take a razor knife and clean up the edges really easily after.

Yeah I think that is what I am going to do this weekend use my dremel and then use a razor blade and or a file and clean it up after I cut it. How did it look once you cut it off? I am just worried it is going to look bad and I am not going to like it.

Mynzbtr1 do you have any pictures of your bike after you cut it off?

It looked really good especially considering what it cost to do it. He has a LED tri bar and i think it really cleaned up the back end.

I just cut it off around the light and sanded the edges clean. Here's a pic of how it came out.

Be aware if you do this you will not be able to mount the luggage rack on the rear fender that mounts to the tail light as the area you cut off is where it bolts up.

FYI anyone riding behind you in the rain will be hating life as the water comes off the tire about 3/4 of the way up and streams straight back. Fun to watch thou.

I would like to mount the tri light in he rear but they do not make it for my bike. They only make it for the 06 up with the 200 rear tire, 03 is a 150 rear tire.

As far as the bobtail luggage rack I am going to first try to cut it with the fender and give it a clean up and try to leave enough plastic so I can still mount the rack if need be. We will see how it looks and go from there
