Thanks for those photos.

I had a chance to get my dash done in the correct factory winkle paint. I also put on NOS buckhorns and stock grips and pegs. The only thing left is a stock EVO air cleaner cover. I may also put stock exhaust back on, still on the fence on that deal. Here are the pics...

That bike is just perfect the way it is now. There is just something about getting on an old EVO Softail Standard or Custom that just feels better than any other bike I have ever been on. You did a super job. Thanks for showing it to us.

Thanks. This is my first memory of a Harley Davidson as a kid. To me the FXST(C) is the quintessential HD of the last 30 years.

I found some original take off exhaust locally (can't believe it) and slapped it on. Looks much cleaner and just like the posters now.

How time flies...I forgot until recently that I was a member here. I also just recently pulled mine out of retirement. It's not a happy camper about that. The picture I posted of mine in the barn is the same position I just moved it from.

It looks like you got the dash back to factory perfect.
You asked about the front brake lines, did you get that sorted out? Mine are not chrome uppers but they aren't black either. Natural is what I would call them. You asked two years ago....just call me Mr. Stiltskin.

Now it's time to return the tires to the original front rib and the rear to an MT90. Personally, I don't really think that is necessary because the tires are a wear item. They are meant to be changed over the years.

BTW- I do have some of my old stuff but it's not pristine anymore.

Your bike makes me want a new 84 Hahaha! I just spent about six hours removing rust from my rear rim with a small brass brush. I should have just gone to the hardware store and got one for my drill motor. Never store a Harley in a shed where cats can get to it. Bad things happen.

Nice bike! The Evo engine and Softail frame are what convinced me to ride Harleys after 20 years on another brand. And after another 20+ years of riding a FXR, a Dyna, and a few Touring models, I always end up going back to a Softail in between those other models. I'm a slow learner I always seem to go back to another Fat Boy, but the Softail Custom is a clean looking ride and one of the better looking models the MoCo has ever put out.

I love your bike! I'm really turned on by classic-looking, no-frills style bikes. Yours has that perfect look. For the same reason, I bought a 97 FXSTC as a second bike. I go into my garage regularly, just to gawk. Great bike you have there!

That's because they haven't updated their motorcycles in 30 years.

Looks great though. You could park it next to one on the show room floor and I bet your average non rider could tell much of a difference.
