I need to remove my tank bib to send in as a template, and I can't get the cateye console on my '09 Heritage off. I've loosened the console nut but the console won't budge. I even stuck a putty knife under the rear of the console hoping to pry it loose, but all I did was destroy the putty knife. The console is not budging. Any thoughts?

 

the nut is the only thing holding it on so no more putty knifes just use your hands and pull like hell.there is a ribber seal/gasket around the bottom of the console its probably stuck to the paint.. my was scary i know but it will come off maybe use some soapy water around the seal/gasket

 

Push it up towards your bars see if it comes off the slot

 

Thanks, colonel. I smacked it a couple of times, and started wiggling it from the front to the back and it finally came loose.

 

You need the HD console puller tool, 200.00 at the dealer.

 

Is that in black or chrome?

 

you can get it in either, but if you take off the console without using it, it will void your warranty

 

And when you tighten it back down, don't over tighten. Cuz you'll choke out the motor and lose a little horsepower.

 

don't forget to change your gasket too. it's $94.95 at the dealer, but $4 at any local hardware store.

 

Don't forget you also need that $100.00 tool to put it back on. HD makes them in Chrome, Vivid Black, or Denim Black.
