Did the 2007 Heritage Softail Classic come with heat shields on the stock mufflers? Or were they only on California and International models?

I was at a dealership in Austin last night and noticed that the new FLSTC models do have heat shields on the mufflers... which I assume would probably fit on the 07 mufflers also (part no 65842-07)?

Any arguments for/against having heat shields on the mufflers (other than the obvious, not losing so much hide if you touch the bare hot muffler)?

I didn't keep the stockers very long, but I don't remember any heat shields on them..

I'd have to go to the land fill to find them now.

The current factory cans are equipped with Cats = heat. Don't know about the earlier models. I suppose there's some safety reason for them in case they touch the leg. They look ugly. Mine are coming off when I install slip-ons tomorrow.
