Default 1" Bearings on a 3/4" Axle

This might be a stupid question, but bear with me. I just got a wheel for the front of my '10 softail, but the bearings are for a 1" axle, not a 3/4" axle (I have a 3/4" axle). The wheel sits in there fine, and the bike rides down the road fine, but the bearings obviously don't fit snug on the axle like the 3/4" bearings do. Am I going to kill myself if I run the larger bearings temporarily until I get smaller ones?

Ahh if it were only that simple...your center spacer will not work with 3/4 bearings and without the correct center spacer your bearings will be destroyed in no time...If you are in luck and have a really good parts guy, he can help you out....but most likely you will just get that "deer in headlights" look. Even if they have a clue what you want...they have no way to look it up...their parts system doesn't work that way. Worst case scenario you will have to go to a machine shop and have them make you a spacer...same length as the one you have now with 3/4 ID
