Default Looking to change out my rear wheel

I have an 06'FXSTB (Night Train) and I purchased the Magnum 5 spoke cut back gloss black wheel for the front back in Jan. I am in need of a new rear tire and was thinking about getting the matching rear wheel. Problem here is the wheel is listed as only fitting 08 and later FXSTB. My 06 has the 200mm wide swing arm as does the 08', only difference I see is 06-07' used a 3/4" rear axle and 08-09' used a 25mm rear axle.

Should I be able to buy the 25mm axle and the 08 bearing kit to make this work or is it much more involved than that?? swing arms look exactly alike.

Thanks for looking and any logical input
Joe

Look for a kit to put 3/4" bearing an inner spacer in the 25mm wheel.

I tried a '06 wheel on my '08 and the wheel hub is wider on an '08 by about 3/16-1/4 " it will create a spacing problem with the pulley and rotor

I would keep the stock rear. The different wheels, front/back are part of the charm of the Night Train.

Hi,

This is what I used when I put a 08 rear wheel on my 07 FXSTC.

I also had to cut new wheel spacers and mill off a few mm's off the belt sprocket to make it all line up. Mock it up a few times to make sure you have proper belt clearance and brake caliper is centered on the disk when the wheel is mounted. I have ran the adapters now for 2 years now and just got home yesterday from a 4200 mile trip. No Problems.

Thanks for the input guys. If the wheels do have different hub sizes, getting into milling my belt sprocket is more trouble than its worth I guess. was hoping to just deal with bearing/axle issue to make it work.
