Unhappy Passing lights

Hi guy's an girl's,
Does any one know of a way to change over from the sealed beam light units?, i want ones where I only have to change bulb when it blows not the whole unit!

I have had two fail in the past year, yet my brother's passing lights have been ok for 5 years and he uses his passing lights more than me!
Any info would be a great help, thanks,
Phill.T

i've replaced mine twice now, undo the screw holding the rim of the passing lamps and remove the glass units now very carefully remove the rubber cover and with a craft knife cut around the edge remove the bulbs i think the replacement bulb is a H4, why buy a complete replacement when you only need the bulb oh yeh i add a bit of silicon around the edge when i am reassembling.

I went the other way on my 2010 Heritage and replaced the stock headlight and passing lights with the older style. First off I didn't like the light beam pattern on the road and the look of the newer style lights didn't fit the theme of the older classic Harley which is what the Heritage is supposed to be all about.

Good choice I think. The older sealed beam lights are brighter for sure. Throw in a European headlight from Hella and you'll even more of a difference. The new style just don't seem to put the light where it's needed or is it bright enough. It's one of those pretty boy Harley changes that compromised light for looks. And that's even if you like the ricer look.

To the OP...swapping out the older style would be a mistake. They should last 3 or 4 years easily, depending on how many miles you clock.

Thanks for that. Another consideration is that some headlamps and auxiliary lights are really bright from straight-on, but almost disappear from a slight angle.

Right now, I'm likin' the older style sealed beams for safety.

I run these:

I absolutely LOVE them. Why, because they have 55w replaceable H3 bulbs. They are probably cheap Chinese housings, but upping your spots to 55 watt H3 bulbs is like....... um, night and day. Its not much less than having 3 forward pointing headlights. At least to me they are worth there weight in gold at night time.
